This year tried to stop me in it's tracks. And at some points, it did. I'm calling it my sideways year; a time of patience and a truck load of gratitude.
A wild circumstance put a wrench in the way my family conducts ourselves; the way we go about our day. And it also put a lot on hold for me - if I choose to perceive it that way. But, it's quite fascinating how life works. When things go sideways, we can freeze. Stay put. Or, with a spark of willpower, no matter how tiny and weak, we can choose to press forward inch-by-every challenging inch.
This sideways situation lasted exactly one year. And I know that sounds sideways in itself. And nope, it wasn't easy. There were days where I wanted to pitch a fit and cave.
And sometimes, I did.
Big, loud, frustrated fit.
But, I also knew it would eventually end. The challenge my family and I were up against would be done at some point. Believe me when I say, those around me lost faith in our circumstances. And it certainly wore on me. But I had to be dang sure that my daily focus was on the fact that our sideways wasn't permanent, and things were gonna be okay.
Then, it happened.
We went from sideways to suddenly within one breath. It was insane! The day that our hard situation turned around came out of nowhere. It was unexpected, shocking, and I cried out of relief.
At least for us, it was a complete surprise.
This year became a lesson in many things. But what stood out the most during our sideways to suddenly year was how God's timing is perfect.
Life is as good as YOU make it.
God's got you. I know this to be true.
And things are ALWAYS working out in your favor.
Friend, if you're in a sideways situation, I'm here to remind you that your suddenly is coming. That hardship you've been dealing with; that important circumstance - it's shifting in your favor. Let that sink down into your bones.
Feel it. Believe it.
Keep going about your day; keep focusing on the good the best you can. And know that you have people like me cheering you on.
My suddenly came!
It took an entire year.
And I'm grateful for everything in between.
I'm a firm believer in miracles. And I truly believe that during this time of year, they're more abound. They overflow.
Why can't it be you? Or your loved one?
Set your heart to it, and see what happens.
Merry Christmas, sweet friend.
