Inspired Action

I don't have a monumental word or personal affirmation for 2023. I've played around with it, but I've got nothing. Nope. Nada.

Setting new year's resolutions is a power move. I don't participate in that either. Goals, intentions and what-not are my daily flow, so I like to slide into the new year with ease.

But something keeps tap, tap, tapping on my heart. It's not one particular focus, but more of an inner knowing.

It's inspired action.

I can't explain it, most times it doesn't make sense, but I know it has to be done. It can feel uncomfortable, or out of character for me, but I always feel better when I do it.

I had the nudge over a year ago to start a blog about local farmers and their best practices. I visited my local farmer's market and got the most delectable raw honey. The next morning, I was minding my business, eating said honey over my granola, and WHAM! Time to blog about all these amazing local farmers and farmer's market vendors. Now!

In order to blog about them, I had to find farmers that were willing to share their stories with me - a total stranger on the internet. I shifted gears from my art business to follow this nudge.

It hasn't been easy, I've experienced burnout, and I don't know what I should do next. But, the gains. Oh my. The gains are immeasurable.

I have met the most incredible souls - kind, intelligent, hard working gritty folk. They welcomed this internet stranger in, and shared bits of their stories with me.

None of this would have happened if I didn't follow the nudge and put action behind it. I like to call those nudges a God whisper.

I learned a bit ago that the word inspired in Greek means "God breathed". The dance between God breathing and you taking action is poetic.

So, that's where I'll be in the new year. Following nudges and enjoying the dance. It may feel awkward, but I'm going to trust that it will take me somewhere beautiful.
