When two long time friends, and their furry companions weren't pleased with dog treats on the market, they stepped up and took action. Lori Quinn and Mary Tatar, co-owners of dawgbark, created an organic dog treat company to please all the pooches.

After many frustrations and concerns of what they were feeding their dogs, Lori decided to make some healthy treats so she knew what was in them. It wasn't a far stretch for her because she often cooked homemade dog food for her pets while her children were growing up.
I made a batch and cut them out into very small animal shapes and took some over to Mary to share with her dog. Mary loved the treats, and so did Charlie, her dog. That's when Mary said, 'We should start a business and we can give part of the proceeds to different shelters.'

Mary is a big advocate for shelter dogs, but Lori was hesitant to start a business. However, as time went on, the idea stuck and dawgbark was founded in 2020. Their goal is to bring health, awareness, community and aide to dogs. They continually donate to dog shelters and rescue programs, while cranking out incredibly nutritious treats.

They change the shape of their treats periodically, while offering three favorite flavors:
Ms. American Pie (organic pumpkin, apple and ceylon cinnamon)
Elvis (organic bananas and peanut butter powder)
Farmboy (organic eggs and bacon)
It's been important to us to use ingredients that are good for dogs and not to use preservatives. Not using preservatives makes the shelf life tricky, but we are sticking to our guns.

All treats can last in the refrigerator for up to a month. Their website is very transparent about what ingredients they use - a refreshing offer to the consumer.
We got our big boy, Huey, a mix of all three treats at a local farmer's market. Now Huey is nearly deaf, so his other senses are very heightened. He knows when something smells and tastes really good. And believe it or not, he's a bit picky.
Needless to say - he devoured his dawgbark treats. And yes - we gave him the whole bag. Look at that face!

You can have their treats shipped to you, or check out the events tab on the dawgbark website to find out what farmer's market they'll be at next. They would make a great gift as well.
